Monday is a day for a bit of recovery after a hectic weekend and how better to do that than with a 4 course meal with matched cocktails with Wild Knight Vodka at Gonzo’s Tea Room.
While people were tucking into a four course meal we were also discovering the joys of the quiet and relaxed atmosphere of hotel bars. St Giles House Hotel is serving Mojitos and Old Fashioneds for just £5, and at the Maids Head Hotel you can enjoy the Maids Head Martini for £6 instead of its normal £9.50. If you missed out on the tasting menu at Gonzo’s, then it’s also worth noting that the Maids Head is offering a 5 course tasting menu with matched cocktails, especially for Cocktail week. Call 01603 209955 for more details.
We also tried out the Cocktail specials at The Wallow. They might be more famous for their wine dispensing machines, but they also have a mean cocktail list, all 20% off with a wristband, as well as 2 Cocktail Week specials for £5.50, the tequila based Manzanilla and the Sweet Tooth.
Finally, last night we also got the chance to try out an exclusive cocktail made with Adnams Rising Sun Gin at a trade event organised by Foodcare Direct. The gin uses matcha green tea and lemongrass in its botanicals making it perfect for an eastern inspired cocktail called the Hamachi. Pop into the Adnams store and your wrisband will get you 10% off a bottle to have a go at making your own.
50ml Adnams Rising Sun Gin
1 egg white
1 spoon yuzu juice
Dry shake the gin, mirin, yuzu juice and egg white. Top up with ice and shake for a second time. Strain into a chilled Martini glass and garnish with a sprinkle of Sansho pepper.
If you’ve not yet bought your wristband, then they are still available. Check out the list of venues where they are available to buy.
Gonzos Tea Rooms
Pushing the Boat Out Southwolds own Adnams host a competition of the cities best bartenders, competing for prizes and prestige using Adnams new line of Rye Vodka and Gin.
The Plasterers – Home-made spirits masterclass
A lesson in how spirits, infusions and liqueurs are produced and some techniques, advice and recipes for how to produce them at home. We will make a couple of spirits/liqueurs together, so everyone will have the chance to design a drink, and will have two sample bottles to take home with them on the night.
On Wednesday there will be an open masterclass where guests with wristbands can drop in & learn about the history of Be At One, product knowledge on the 5 cocktail week cocktails & also jump behind the bar & make the cocktail you buy!
