Cocktail Week starts in 2 weeks, and with 4 years of Cocktail hunting experience under our belts, we thought it was time to offer our top tips for making the most of your wristband.
Cocktail Week takes place over 8 nights, so that’s 8 opportunities to get out there, get some exclusive deals, and try some cracking, and sometimes limited edition, cocktails. Whilst you might not be able to head out for a night on the town every day of the week, there are definitely ways to make maximum use of that wristband.
1. Check Your Times
There’s nothing more disappointing than heading out to try somewhere new, only to discover it’s closed. We make every effort to give you an idea of opening times on the Cocktail Week website, but you should always check with the bar direct before you make a special trip as opening times can vary.
It’s also worth checking your offer times. Some particularly busy bars may restrict the times your wristband can be used, so it’s worth double-checking before you head out. Where bars are offering an extended Happy Hour, such as Copa Cubana, Revolucion de Cuba, Mr Postles and the Gin Temple, it’s worth checking the times of their existing Happy Hour and making sure you go outside those times to maximise your wristband smugness!
2. Plan Your Week
If you only have 1 night to head out it’s certainly possible to get good value from your wristband. Grab a £5 Canary NCFC Cocktail at Bond’s and you’ll save £5 on the full price immediately and a 2-4-1 Cocktail offer at Revolucion de Cuba after 7pm on a weeknight will make you your money back straight away!
Norwich Cocktail Week runs over 2 Saturdays, so if you work all week you can head out then, but remember, Saturday is a busy night, 2 or 3 quieter nights during the week might be a better way to get full value for your wristband and enjoy your drinks in peace!
A few offers include food, and many places serve food alongside their cocktails, so a post-work Cocktail could include some tasty snacks. Pop into the Bicycle Shop and buy 2 Cocktails and you’ll get a free mini camembert to snack on, try a romantic meal at The Tipsy Vegan with Cocktails for £5 or later on in the evening head into Gringos for 2-4-1 Margaritas and half-price Nachos.
3. Try New Things
Everyone has their tried and tested favourites, but it’s heading out and trying new places and new drinks that makes Norwich Cocktail Week so much fun.
You should also make sure you check out bars with Cocktail Week specials, most of these specials are exclusively available for one week only so it’s a chance to really enjoy the creativity of the Cities mixologists! The Maids Head, Franks Bar and Bills Restaurant are among those offering Cocktail Week exclusives.
4. Share and Share Alike
There’s only so many cocktails you can drink, so if you’re out with a group of friends and don’t mind sharing a taste it’s a great way to try more of the special offerings, without overdoing it!
Remember, your wristband is only valid for one offer on each trip to the bar, so everyone in your group will need a wristband to make the most of the offers, but if everyone orders something different it gives you a chance to maximise your cocktail tasting!
5. Get Involved!
Lastly, keep your eye out for special events going on during Norwich Cocktail Week. Some of these carry an additional cost, but if you’re looking for some more interesting Cocktail based activities then this is the week to do it!
Cocktail Week Launch night it’s worth heading out early as Ten Bells will be offering free Bullards Gin & Tonics to the first 25 customers to show their wristbands at the bar.
We love to see your photos too, so we can see what Cocktails we want to try next! Use the Hashtag #NorwichCocktailWeek on your social media posts so we can find them, and you might even win a prize…..
